Meet Prince, a black cat who spent four years on the street. This week he is recovering from a huge abscess in a crate in my office, and he is being such a sweetheart about it. When I moved into the neighborhood in 2020, I was the only cat lady on the block. Now, through the connections I have made, a whole crew of neighbors chips in for the thirty-some cats who share our streets. So when I decided to spend the $700 on his vet bill, I knew our @PorchCatsofLB (Long Beach) would come together with a plan. Little did I know the plan would be a market on October 10th with astrology, a garage sale, and crafts from the artists I have befriended, and that it would land on the New Moon. Now it is going Halloween themed, the perfect stage for a black cat to find his person.
Libra season begins tomorrow evening, when the Sun enters Libra at the equinox. It is already showing me the relationships I have co-created with these cats and with the neighbors who now share their care. Libra is the sign of balance between me and we, and I can see that balance on my own street.
The sky opens the week in that same spirit. Today Mercury in Libra, the planet of the mind and communication, forms a harmonious aspect with Jupiter in Leo, the planet of expansion. It is an auspicious start for learning, teaching, writing, and any conversation that brings someone new into your life. The New Moon in Libra on October 10th, the day of our market, forms another positive aspect to Jupiter in Leo as well. Today is a preview of that energy, so the ideas and connections that arrive this week may belong to the cycle that begins then.
The week has some friction too, and it centers on Chiron Rx in Aries, the wounded healer. Tomorrow the Sun in Virgo, our life force, presses on that wound, and early Sunday morning Mars in Cancer, the planet of ego and will, presses on it again. Old hurts around how we run our energy, will, and ego can surface, so watch for emotional reactivity and passive aggression, and treat whatever comes up as something to heal.
All of that leads to the culmination of the week, Saturday's Full Moon in Aries, which brings us to a really auspicious weekend. It activates the grand sextile, a harmonious configuration between the higher mind of Uranus Rx in Gemini, the higher heart of Neptune Rx in Aries, and the higher will of Pluto Rx in Aquarius. It also forms a magic kite with the Sun in Libra. Aries brings its warrior energy and the courage to be fully yourself inside your relationships, and this Full Moon rewards intuition and dreams. Let them show you whether the brave step is to put yourself first or to make room for someone else. The portal opens Friday and stays open into Monday, which makes it a wonderful time for ceremony, meditation, and dream work.
For Libra season:
• Where in your relationships are you giving more than you receive, and where are you receiving more than you give?
• What would real balance between yourself and the people around you look like this month?
For the Full Moon in Aries:
• What is the brave step you already know you need to take, and what has been holding you back from taking it?
• What are your intuition and dreams showing you that your mind keeps arguing with?
With Love,
Kris
This Week's Transits
(lunation times PT)
September 21 (Monday)
Mercury in Libra sextiles Jupiter in Leo
Mercury in Libra sextiling Jupiter in Leo makes room for generous, expansive conversation, the kind that reminds the mind what it's capable of once it stops hedging. Trust follows naturally when words are given permission to be bold.
September 22 (Tuesday): Libra Season Begins
The Sun in Virgo quincunx Chiron Rx in Aries \ The Sun enters Libra
The Sun in Virgo and Chiron Rx in Aries both sit at the 29th degree, the karmic completion degree where whatever is unresolved comes up to be dealt with, and they form a quincunx (a hard aspect of 150 degrees between signs with nothing in common, which asks for constant adjustment) in the hours before the Sun changes signs. With Chiron Rx in Aries, the wounded healer in the sign of will, the question is how we run our own will, ego, and anger.
The Sun then enters Libra with the equinox, day and night in balance for a moment at one of the year's two gateways, as the northern hemisphere tips into the dark half of the year and the southern hemisphere springs into the light, and Libra season asks the soul to practice relationship as a spiritual discipline.
September 24 (Thursday)
Mars in Cancer quincunx the North Node in Aquarius
Mars in Cancer, the sign of its fall, tends toward emotional reactivity and passive aggression, and its quincunx (hard aspect) to the North Node in Aquarius is the first of Mars's tense aspects this week. This asks for an adjustment between the wounded inner child who reacts from old emotional patterns and the collective direction the soul is growing toward, along with an honest look at where unprocessed feeling is steering the will.
September 25 (Friday)
The Sun in Libra opposes Neptune Rx in Aries \ The Sun in Libra trines Pluto Rx in Aquarius
The Sun in Libra opposing Neptune Rx in Aries can blur the line between devotion and self-erasure, making it worth asking where partnership has quietly become dissolving. The Sun in Libra trining Pluto Rx in Aquarius offers real support underneath that haze, a chance to regenerate identity through honest reckoning rather than performance.
September 26 (Saturday)
Full Moon in Aries (9:49 am PT) \ Grand sextile between Uranus Rx in Gemini, Neptune Rx in Aries, and Pluto Rx in Aquarius forming a major kite
This Full Moon in Aries is about courage, and because it falls in Libra season, the courage in question is the courage to show up as yourself inside your relationships: to say the true thing, ask for what you need, and take the step you have been circling. The powerful, harmonious grand sextile that has been activated since July between Uranus Rx in Gemini, Neptune Rx in Aries, and Pluto Rx in Aquarius forms a major kite at this Full Moon and puts the higher mind, the higher heart, and the higher power behind that courage, which makes this an ideal moment to act on whatever your intuition and dreams have been showing you.
September 27 (Sunday)
Mars enters Leo
Mars moving into Leo shifts the soul's drive from private tending toward visible, wholehearted expression. The invitation is to let ambition be seen rather than kept modest out of habit.
